New leadership for the Packaging Valley

As of December 1st, 2019, Martin Buchwitz will follow in the footsteps of Kurt Engel as the new Managing Director. This marks the end of an era. Since the foundation of the association in 2007, Kurt Engel has been responsible for the business from Schwäbisch Hall. Together with the founding members he steered Packaging Valley into the future and turned the association into a competence cluster known regionally, nationally and even internationally.
Engineer Martin Buchwitz has been on board since October 1st, 2019 and will take over the helm at the end of the year.

“Achieving more together” – this is what mattered to Kurt Engel.

The community was very close to Kurt Engel’s heart. For him, Packaging Valley is more than just a merger. During his tenure it became a profitable network for members, customers and employees. The concentrated competence can be seen in various events and at trade fair appearances. The Packaging Valley, for example, is characterised by short distances between suitable solution providers. The large joint stand at trade fairs is only one part of Kurt Engel’s work for Packaging Valley. He was also involved in bringing a Virtual Reality Center to Schwäbisch Hall. This was intended to extend the cluster’s status as an innovative technology stronghold.

“Together more can be achieved and together successes can be celebrated better,” explains Kurt Engel about the Packaging Valley. “In addition, we have an enormous competence in packaging machine construction here, which can develop its potential even better through the community. I wish my successor and the association a successful future in which the community always remains the most important thing”.

Martin Buchwitz brings new experiences to Packaging Valley

“The footsteps are great – no question, but there is still room for new ones. Of course I want to continue what has been achieved, but I also want to go new ways,” says Martin Buchwitz. In view of his vita, it was quickly clear to Packaging Valley that he would be chosen as his successor. He is probably what you call an all-rounder. He knows mechanical engineering from many sides. As a trained electronics engineer, Martin Buchwitz worked in automation technology. Sales, marketing and press and public relations work in this area were stations in his career. He was editor-in-chief of two automation magazines. Most recently, he worked as a freelancer for industrial image processing companies and non-profit organizations.

In addition to the association Packaging Valley Germany e.V., Martin Buchwitz will also manage the Technology Centre and Hohenlohe Plus as Managing Director. This means that the topic of “skilled workers in the Hohenlohe region” is becoming increasingly important. A topic that has already been taken up by Packaging Valley through its own career portal.
