See you again at FACHPACK 2021 with Packaging Valley

It's probably the comeback of the year for the global packaging industry. After a long pandemic-related break, interpack in Düsseldorf will be awakened from its slumber and from May 04 to 10, 2023, fully booked exhibition halls will transform into the most international processing and packaging platform.

Where the international packaging industry meets, Packaging Valley is not far away. Under the motto of this year's interpack "simply unique", the cluster will present itself with concentrated power and innovative strength. More than 40 Packaging Valley member companies will present their highlights along the entire value chain in several halls at interpack. As the regional spokesperson from (in) southern Germany, Packaging Valley is THE platform for intelligent and sustainable packaging solutions of tomorrow. The anticipation for the reunion at interpack is great - after all, as a global trendsetter, the trade fair offers a fantastic stage for trends and premieres, new perspectives, matchmaking and personal exchange.

Two central themes at interpack 2023 are sustainability and digitalization. The packaging industry is undergoing change - the industry faces enormous challenges, such as changing consumer behavior, resource conservation and reduction of material, sustainable packaging alternatives and cost pressure. At the same time, change also means new opportunities. Sabine Gauger, chairwoman of Packaging Valley is convinced:

"The packaging machinery industry is also creating these challenges together with its customers. I am sure that we are on the right track. Almost every day we see new packaging solutions on the market and there are many more innovations in the engineering pipelines for the use of sustainable materials and equipment."

What will the solutions of tomorrow look like?

Packaging Valley, with its 43 member companies present at interpack, provides answers and shows how the cluster for packaging machinery and automation is actively shaping and moving this change.

The highlights at the Packaging Valley joint stand

The packaging of liquid products in solid containers is exactly the métier of BREITNER filling systems. BREITNER builds individual machines as well as complete packaging lines: Bottle erectors, filling machines and capping machines. Now in its third generation, BREITNER has been manufacturing individual machines in Schwäbisch Hall since 1960 with a team of around 100 employees. BREITNER fully covers the food, chemical, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. For BREITNER, interpack is already a must-attend event when it comes to trade fairs. In 2023, BREITNER will again be on site in Düsseldorf to present itself and its machines up close. On site you can expect the linear filler for liquids, a canister capper for high outputs, bottle erectors for bottles up to 2L and the completely revised capper type "VS". Visit BREITNER and dive into the world of packaging machines for liquid products.

Camozzi Automation strengthens its focus on digitalization, mechatronics, smart components and will present a series of new ideas and solutions for the field of Industry 4.0, also oriented to the criteria of environmental sustainability at interpack 2023. As an application solution, Camozzi will show a special packaging demo with smart components and advanced technologies. The new DRVI motor with integrated drive controller and absolute encoder controls the stepper motors with a closed-loop algorithm. The reliability of the system is guaranteed by the D series valve terminal and the PRE series proportional pressure regulator, both equipped with CoilVision® technology, which continuously monitors the operating status of the solenoid valves and predicts any malfunctions. The collected data is sent to the cloud and can be analyzed by the customer. For a long time, the freely available Uvix platform has been used for Camozzi's smart products. This is now being supplemented with SECO's CLEA artificial intelligence.

As a specialist in feeding technology, E+K Sortiersysteme will be showing, among other things, an innovative new development for changing format parts without tools. In addition, the focus will be on customer- and process-specific solutions for the correct supply of packaging materials with a focus on the pharmaceutical industry.

With innovative connection technology in premium quality, Eisele supports the HENN Connector Group in optimizing packaging processes. The focus is on the MULTILINE multiple and multi-media couplings as optimal solutions for the packaging industry. Functional groups on packaging machines can be connected to this modular system for combining compressed air, vacuum, gases, cooling water, liquids, electronics and electrics in one coupling body. Eisele will also be presenting INOXLINE stainless steel connectors, which are the ideal solution for the high hygiene requirements in food and pharmaceutical packaging. Visitors can also expect to see the new and unique 2-in-1 Connector at Eisele. This makes it possible to mount two different hose diameters in the same push-in connector. The ball-bearing rotary connector for rotating parts for the transmission of compressed air represents another optimal solution for the packaging industry.

HERMA underpins its technological leadership in labeling technology with two special highlights. The 132M HC is a machine for wrap-around labeling, especially for pharmaceutical products. As a high-speed variant, it achieves up to 600 cycles per minute for the first time, including variable data printing with camera control and GMP-compliant rejection of bad products. The Clean Design, which is now used on all HERMA machines, also ensures an even higher degree of modularity and thus particularly fast availability of the respective standard version. The HERMA 500 labeler is also characterized by a modularity that is probably unique in the industry. Any speed, any installation situation, any dispensing variant can be covered with it - but the basic device always remains the same. This makes it particularly interesting for machine builders. Because this standardization always means consistent integration processes, maximum reliability, and thus also extremely satisfied users.

Jetter presents the advantages of an integrated motion control system. With a single software tool, an object-oriented programming language and the flexibility of the multitasking operating system, Jetter merges the different control and drive technologies into an easy-to-use and very efficient overall system of hardware and software. Motion Control with CNC functions thus becomes Motion Control Extended. The automation specialist demonstrates this with the example of a Delta robot and a HFFS machine. Using the example of a filling machine, Jetter offers an insight into its possibilities for fill level control.

At the Omron booth, visitors can experience live a unique concept solution consisting of a cobot and a mobile robot (MoMa), which can not only transport goods but also implement complicated picking tasks. With the Mobile Manipulator, OMRON is showing a slice of the factory of the future, addressing a number of cutting-edge topics from the packaging industry as well as the downstream service industry (fulfillment center). The solutions demonstrate innovative automation approaches to meet today's societal demands: Flexibility of manufacturing in response to individual products, High Mix - Low Volume as well as handling sustainable packaging materials, building sustainable automation solutions and reducing waste and scrap.

The new generation UNIROB awaits visitors at the R.Weiss booth. The modular UNIROB system consists of standardized components or modular modules that are individually configured according to customer requirements to create a holistic packaging solution. Tried and tested standard modules are used for all packaging processes such as erecting carton blanks, mixing in products, for grouping and top-loading the products as well as for closing the cartons, labeling and palletizing. With the new generation, a new status light bar and info panel have been introduced to facilitate monitoring of machine operation and troubleshooting. The continuous light bar across the entire line continuously displays the status of each cell through color visualization, giving operators an overview of current production conditions at all times. Experience the premiere of the new generation UNIROB packaging lines at interpack 2023 and convince yourself of our high-quality packaging solutions. We look forward to welcoming you at our booth and presenting our latest developments.

Visitors to the STAKO booth will gain insights into innovative labeling and transport system solutions. The specialist for labeling machines and transport systems designs and manufactures systems for the packaging industry for well-known machine manufacturers from the region as well as international end customers. A highlight at the booth will be a robot for inserting and checking injection pens in a labeling machine. Furthermore, an accumulating table feeder with rotating roller for 4 compartment pick-up from robot will be exhibited.

Network. Exchange. Move.

According to the motto "Achieving more together", Packaging Valley stands for intensive exchange, know-how transfer, promotion and bundling of resources and competences. Trends and future topics in the packaging industry are discussed, packaging technologies and solutions are presented. And because the network thrives on know-how transfer and networking, Packaging Valley Germany e.V. welcomes the Spanish partner cluster Packaging Cluster to the joint stand on the second day of the trade fair and organizes a tour of Packaging Valley. Afterwards, the member companies of both clusters will have the opportunity to exchange ideas in a German-Spanish get-together.

For Martin Buchwitz, Managing Director at Packaging Valley, the anticipation is great: "The cooperation with European partner clusters shows the development of our competence center very well. A regional network has become a cluster for packaging machine manufacturing that operates on a European scale."
