Founded in 1945, the company operates eight production sites across three continents and has subsidiaries and distribution partners in more than 60 countries. The Schmersal Group employs approximately 2,000 people worldwide.

About tec.nicum

Within the Schmersal Group, tec.nicum is the business unit dedicated to solutions and services related to machine, plant, and workplace safety. In 2024, Schmersal restructured its services business. tec.nicum’s range of safety services was significantly expanded—particularly with regard to digitalization and comprehensive solutions for machine safety—and its global activities and expertise were more closely integrated.
In April 2024, Schmersal founded tec.nicum –Solutions & Services GmbH as a new subsidiary, into which omnicon engineering GmbH—which Schmersal had acquired back in 2019—was also incorporated. The new subsidiary is headquartered in Kirkel-Limbach, Germany.

The four pillars on which tec.nicum’s offerings have been based to date—academy, consulting, engineering, and integration—have been expanded to include two additional pillars: digitalization and outsourcing. Digitalization: tec.nicum is increasingly offering newly developed software solutions, such as a new tool for conducting risk assessments, as well as new digital technologies like cloud solutions, IIoT applications, digitized lockout-tagout procedures, and energy management tools.

Outsourcing: tec.nicum offers users the option to completely outsource all tasks related to machine safety, from the design of safety solutions to the planning and installation of control cabinets. If needed, tec.nicum provides users with ready-to-connect plug-and-play products.

Thanks to its global consulting network, tec.nicum’s services are available worldwide. tec.nicum provides customers with expert, product- and manufacturer-neutral advice and supports them in the safety-related design of their machines and production lines.
